Jordan & Marlie: The Grand Hotel Wedding

There’s something truly special about photographing weddings where there's a personal connection—and Jordan and Marlie’s day was exactly that. I first met Jordan a decade ago at Canadore College, and getting the chance to reconnect all these years later to capture one of the most meaningful days of his life felt incredibly full circle.

Jordan and Marlie’s wedding at The Grand Hotel in Carleton Place, just outside of Ottawa, was nothing short of glamorous. Nestled in the heart of town, The Grand is known for its historic charm and elegant atmosphere, and it offered the perfect backdrop for a day filled with love, joy, and sophisticated style.

From the moment I arrived, it was clear that every detail had been thoughtfully planned. Marlie looked absolutely stunning in her wedding dress while Jordan brought sleek, classic energy in a sharp white and black tux that tied everything together perfectly. The bridal party was dressed to impress, and the rich, neutral-toned florals paired beautifully with the venue’s warm textures and timeless architecture.

The ceremony took place in the hotel’s charming event space, with natural light pouring in through the windows and emotional vows that had every guest misty-eyed—including me. What made this wedding even more meaningful was seeing how Jordan and Marlie were completely present with each other all day. It’s a rare thing to witness such genuine, effortless connection—and they had it in spades.

As golden hour arrived, we stepped outside on the roof to capture some portraits before walking around downtown Carleton Place. The small-town charm, mixed with the grandeur of the venue, created the dreamiest editorial-style shots. Every image was infused with warmth, laughter, and that sense of relaxed luxury that you can’t plan—only feel.

The evening transitioned into an intimate, candle-lit reception with heartfelt speeches, signature cocktails, and a packed dance floor from the first song on. It was the kind of night that reminds you why weddings are such a joy to document—because they’re about history, about coming full circle, and about celebrating deep, real love with the people who matter most.

Jordan and Marlie, thank you for trusting me to tell your story. Your wedding was truly unforgettable—and so are you.
